AHA K-12 First Aid Training Course

Empowering School-Age Students with Lifesaving Skills

The AHA K-12 First Aid Training Course is specifically designed for school-age students, from kindergarten through 12th grade. This comprehensive program equips students with the knowledge and skills to manage a range of emergencies, from minor cuts to severe allergic reactions. Reflecting the latest science and education from the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC), this course ensures students receive the highest quality training in lifesaving first aid.

Course Highlights:

  • Age-Appropriate Training: Tailored for K-12 students, ensuring relevance and engagement for all school ages.
  • Comprehensive Emergency Management: Covers a wide range of emergencies, from small injuries to critical situations.
  • Confidence Building: Empowers students to act decisively and confidently during emergencies at school, home, or in the community.
  • Flexible Learning Options: Offers online, onsite, and classroom training*, providing flexibility for Training Centers, Instructors, and students to choose the best training solution to fit their needs. (*Training options may vary by Training Center.)
  • First Aid Kits will be provided for each student's practice and to keep for personal use.
  • AHA First AID Workbook will be issued to each student to reference during class and keep for their ownership.
  • Certification of Completion The course will end with an AHA (2) year Certifcation for k-12 First AID and a certifcation of completion from CPR R US.

Course Learning Objectives:

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • List Priorities, Roles, and Responsibilities: Understand the essential duties of first aid rescuers.
  • Key Steps in First Aid: Describe the critical steps in administering first aid.
  • Protective Gloves: Demonstrate the correct method of removing protective gloves.
  • Problem Identification: Demonstrate how to identify and assess the problem.
  • Life-Threatening Conditions: Describe the assessment and first aid actions for heart attack, difficulty breathing, choking, severe bleeding, shock, and stroke.
  • Choking Assistance: Describe when and how to help a choking adult, child, or infant, and demonstrate how to help a choking infant.
  • Epinephrine Pen: Demonstrate the correct use of an epinephrine pen.
  • Bleeding Control and Bandaging: Demonstrate how to control bleeding and apply bandages.
  • Recognize Common Illnesses and Injuries: Identify symptoms and treatment for common ailments.
  • Healthy Lifestyle: Understand the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and the risks associated with smoking and vaping.
  • Preventing Illness and Injury: Learn how to find information on preventing illnesses and injuries.
  • Legal Considerations: Recognize the legal questions relevant to first aid rescuers.
